How often should my lawn be mowed?
During peak growing season (April to September), most lawns in Surrey benefit from weekly or fortnightly mowing. In spring and autumn, fortnightly is usually sufficient. Over winter, growth often slows enough that monthly or occasional cuts are all that’s needed. We’ll advise on the right frequency for your specific lawn when we quote.
Do you collect the grass clippings?
Yes. All clippings are collected and removed from your property as standard on every visit. We don’t leave them on the lawn, bag them for your bins, or add to your green waste collection. Removal is included in the price we quote.
Can you mow a lawn that's become very long or overgrown?
Yes, though very long grass needs a different approach. Cutting overgrown grass straight to a short height in one pass can stress or damage the lawn. For lawns that have grown significantly, we’ll often take it down gradually over two cuts spaced a week or two apart. We’ll advise on the best approach when we visit to quote.
What height do you cut to?
It depends on the season, the grass type and your preference. As a general guide: summer cuts are typically 3–4cm; spring and autumn cuts are raised to around 4–5cm; winter cuts (where needed) are kept higher still. We never cut below 2.5cm — scalping a lawn weakens the grass and encourages moss and weeds.
Do you mow in wet weather?
Light rain isn’t usually a problem. We avoid mowing on waterlogged ground or during heavy rain – cutting wet grass produces a poor finish and can damage both the lawn and the soil structure. If conditions aren’t right on the day of your scheduled visit, we’ll rearrange as soon as possible and keep you informed.
